Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library form a body of volunteers that are committed to Supporting the County Library System reach its service and program goals. They do this by supporting the Library’s leadership team in implementing fundraisers. All the funds raised by the Friends of the Library are invested back into the local branch library to better service the community it represents. The San Bernardino County Library operates over 20 Friends of the Library groups which contribute hundreds of thousands of dollars towards funding. Here are some of the projects that are currently funded:
- Summer Programs for Children
- New Books
- Special Holiday and Cultural Events
- Remodel Projects
- Technology Components
Volunteer
- The Friends of the Library serve as San Bernardino County Library volunteers with the express purpose of working under staff to enhance library service in the various communities they represent. Friends’ members have the ability to work in unique and gratifying roles as they meet and serve the diverse population that makes up San Bernardino County. The time and energy that a Friends member gives by far is the greatest asset tot eh County library.
Support
- The Friends of the Library volunteers are selected by the County Library to spearhead fundraising efforts. They do this in partnership with the County Library and within the guidelines of the County of San Bernardino’s policy and procedures. Fundraisers range from books sales to special author visits. Becoming a Friend is the first step to supporting the County library.

- Membership applications and brochures about your local SBCL Friends of the Library organizations are available at your local branch library. Friend’s boards and committee members generally meet once a month to conduct business. There is usually a small membership fee to join a Friends group. Below are some of the Friends groups’ websites.
